Question:

Amazing acts of my birds, I need to know why?

Recently I have been able to succesfully feed my budgies with my hand. Now they are not afraid of me, and they even clean the palm of my hand once they see small parts of their seeds remaining.

But they never step onto my hand, no matter how I hold out my fingers. Could it be that they respect my hand so much for feeding them, that they refuse to step on it?

How do I make sure of this? How do I make them get on my hand?

  1. put your finger under there belly and lift up and it will put its legs on your finger

  2. Try covering your hand with a cloth.

  3. Try the step up command.  Force your finger under their chest and they will have to step or fall over.

  4. They are not comfortable enough to step up on your hand yet.  But keep working at it like you have been, thats the best way to start.  Have patience...

  5. If you gently stroke a finger down their chests to their legs and press a little against the legs, most tame Budgies will step up on your finger.
