Amazing moments of 2012 Major League Baseball season – Part 2
The beauty of baseball is that there are 30 teams and each one of these plays 162 games during the regular season. That is a tremendous amount of action to follow. There is always bound to be drama and standout performances during the Major League Baseball
regular season.
Massive home-runs and no-hitters by players throughout the regular season leave an indelible mark on the fans. Team wins do not necessarily reflect individual performances as there are many good players throughout the Majors, unfortunately they might be
playing for teams that are not that strong.
Although most fans might have their own memorable moments of the 2012 MLB regular season, our list below is a continuation from Part 1.
Bryce Harper makes MLB debut:
What a tremendous player Bryce Harper has turned out for the Washington Nationals. He made his debut in the Majors and never looked back. Although he had some issues early on with his temper and somewhat immature behaviour on the field, the player has put
in a very good performance for the Nationals to definitely help them get to the postseason this year. At only 19-years-old, many critics are sensing great things from this young player in the future.
It makes me think of many young players that are just waiting on the sidelines for a chance to prove themselves in the Majors. What other hidden talented players might be sitting in the Minors or on the bench for many teams is something many clubs will be
looking at after seeing the tremendous talents of Bryce Harper.
Perfect game for Philip Humber:
Chicago White Sox had a mixed 2012 MLB regular season. They managed to stay ahead of teams like the Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins. Their pitcher Philip Humber gave them something to cheer about early in the season as he managed to throw a perfect
game against the Seattle Mariners on April 21, 2012. Although he was unable to maintain a good consistent performance during the rest of the regular season, he did give the White Sox something to motivate them.
The White Sox are looking like a team that needs to smooth out some of their rough edges and they will potentially become a great team in the years to come.
Ozzie Guillen suspended for 5 games:
As if the Miami Marlins did not already have enough problems, their manager Ozzie Guillen received a five game suspension from Major League Baseball for his comments regarding his appreciation for Cuba’s Fidel Castro. It seems that Ozzie just does not understand
when to keep to himself and not open his mouth to start controversy for himself and the Marlins.
His comments and subsequent suspension really gave the Marlins a horrible start to the 2012 MLB regular season. Instead of focusing on the team, the media just turned their attention to Ozzie and the controversy he always seems to create. The poor performance
of the Marlins during the 2012 MLB regular season is a real let down for the fans especially after all the hype of acquiring some top players and spending so much money on a new stadium. It will be very surprising if Ozzie is retained for next year but then
again the Marlins are not known to be make the best decisions when it comes to their club.
