Amazing moments of 2012 Major League Baseball season – Part 4
Most baseball fans usually follow a team or two that they like to support. However, as the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season is now over and the playoffs are upon us, many miss out on some of the amazing moments that happened.
This list of amazing moments of the 2012 MLB regular season is not set in stone and just highlights some of the many great moments this year. Some might argue that a certain player or a performance should be included which is fine but these moments are the
ones that crossed over rivalries and personal favourites to shine throughout the league.
Below is a continuation from Part 3 of amazing moments of the 2012 MLB regular season.
Four home-runs hit by Josh Hamilton:
Anybody that follows baseball knows that Texas Rangers’ Josh Hamilton is a phenomenal hitter. He is a tremendous player that knows what it takes to win games. During the month of May, Hamilton hit four home-runs in a game against the Baltimore Orioles. If
that doesn’t boost a team up then nothing ever will. The Rangers are fully aware of the power and talent that Hamilton possesses. He is one of those players that just seem to be in the middle of all the action during a game.
It was refreshing to see Hamilton making headlines for his on field performances and not the usual media hyped focus on his personal life.
The Rangers have always been at or near the top for the past few years. With players like Hamilton that is really no surprise. They made it to the World Series finals two years in a row. Unfortunately they were unable to seal the deal and ended up losing
their title shot both years.
At the time of writing this article, the Texas Rangers lost their Wild Card game to the Baltimore Orioles 1-5 and essentially ending their postseason run. Baseball can be a cruel sport sometimes as mentioned earlier it was this very same Orioles team that
was taken to the cleaners by Hamilton’s stand-out performance of hitting four home-runs back in May and now the Rangers are out of the postseason having just lost to Baltimore in the Wild Card game. If that is not payback, I don’t know what is.
Johan Santana throws no-hitter:
The New York Mets never had a no-hitter game in their history. Johan Santana finally managed to achieve this accolade for the Mets. The interesting point is the fact that the Mets with pitchers like Santana and Dickey still were unable to manage great things
this year is really a shame. The management should seriously look to get these top quality pitchers some serious support before they take their talents elsewhere.
Santana managed to do what nobody has ever done before him in the Mets franchise by throwing a no-hitter. The Mets will be kicking themselves for not being about to win more games this year as they should be fully aware that a tremendously talented pitcher
or two are usually not enough to carry the entire team to greatness. Maybe next year the Mets’ pitchers like Santana and Dickey will get some help from other players and start winning more games.
