  1. You must be 18 years old in order to bind yourself to a debt in the US.

They would only offer you the $30 if they knew that they would get more out of you in the long run.  I advise that you commit your life to avoiding the trap of debt.

Pay cash for everything, and you will limit the stress you face.  Good luck!

  2. The $30 credit is only if you are approved, which you wont be since you are only 16.  Unfortunately, it's not possible for a 16 year old to open a credit card account.

But don't worry, they've had that $30 credit promotion going for about 2 years already (the exact reason why I have an Amazon Credit Card), so you can count on the offer still being there when you turn 18.

Like the other responder said though, avoid the trap of debt... it's truly such a waste.  I didn't even spend IRRESPONSIBLY when I first got my credit card, I simply purchased more "necessities" than I could actually pay for.  It's like being caught in quicksand.
