Amazon shipping help?!?!?!?!?

I am a seller on amazon and recently i have sold a book. Amazon says that the total net gain after everything is abt $20. Then, i go to a shipping place and i ask the person how much it will cost. He said that the shipping this package will cost $13. I did buy the shipping case to put the book in, ut i didn't expect it to be $13. The book weighed like 3 pounds. So, does anyone know how to ship an item with minimal cost so that i make the profit amazon predicts? thanks you for your time.

If you're in the US, why not ship via Parcel Post, available at the US Postal Service? It's the least expensive method for shipping books.

However... parcel post is only an alternative if your buyer chose Standard Shipping. If they want Expedited Shipping, then you'll probably have to choose the more expensive shipping method.
