Ambitious Choi eyes title in South Korea

South Korean Na Yeon Choi has said that her game has improved a lot lately as she thinks performing well in the last tournament held in Malaysia has boosted her confidence, which she plans
to capitalise on in the upcoming LPGA Hana Bank Championship 2012.
The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Hana Bank Championship 2012 is going to be held from October 19-21, at Incheon, South Korea, but the media hype surrounding this event has already
gone up, attracting a large number of spectators.
Choi, who recently jumped to the third spot in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, has been trying to grab the number world number one position since turning professional in 2004, but her needs
to be further fine-tuned.
Most important of all, Choi is being regarded as the best player of LPGA Hana Bank Championship as she won the 2009 and 2010 edition.
Moreover, she finished runner-up in the last edition. The 2011 edition of the tournament saw Choi get into a nail-biting battle against the current world number one Yani Tseng, but lost by
one stroke.
Sharing her thoughts while speaking to the media this week, Choi said that she is fully fit and will try to win the event this time.
The LPGA titan, who also finished runner-up in the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012 — has already won a major title at the US Women’s Open 2012, which reflects that she is keen to further boost
her rakings.
In Malaysia, she lost to fellow South Korean Inbee Park by two strokes.
“As for the last championship, I feel I did pretty much well and good on the first day, second day and third day, but on the last day I didn't get nervous, but I didn't feel I played my game,”
Choi said.
“I did pretty much good the last two weeks, so my confidence has been really high. And so that's why I cannot wait to do the game right now. And of course compared to the last two weeks, the
temperature changed a lot, but if we prepare well, and I think we can win with a good score”.
Since the tournament is being held in South Korea, Choi is expected to gain plenty of media and crowd support, which in turn will help her face rivals with confidence.
