Ambitious Cristie Kerr aims title at Mobile Bay LPGA Classic
Cristie Kerr is planning to take on contenders at the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic in an aggressive style, as she has been seeking to boost her world ranking since the start of the 2012 season.
Kerr, an American professional golf player, is in the field at this week’s event, slated to go underway from April 26-29, at Magnolia Grove’s Crossings Course.
Although determined not to surrender to her nerve in the much-hyped event, other members in the field are also gearing up to give a hard time to their rivals.
Analysts said that beating rivals will not be easy for Kerr, as she has been struggling to regain her lost potential since the 2011 season.
Staying winless since last year has made Kerr more ambitious than ever before, this is why, she is taking the Mobile Bay LPGA classic more seriously.
Kerr currently ranks fourth in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, and has been trying to improve her position. However, in order to gain a solid standing in the world rankings, the American star will have to add some victory to her profile.
Turning professional in 1995, Kerr won her first title at the Ironwood Futures Classic. She has recorded 18 triumphs so far, with 14 on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour, 1 on the Future Tours and 3 on other tours.
Although not playing her usual game, Kerr managed to display a far better game in the first major tournament of the 2012 season—Kraft Nabisco Championship.
She finished tied for the 22nd, despite the fact that the roster contained players like the current world number one Yani Tseng and Suzann Pettersen.
She stunned her fans yet again when she finished tied for the 4th at the LPGA Lotte Championship. Analysts said that the way she has been improving her game since the last few weeks has raised her rivals’ concerns.
She posted a solid 68 on the second round, which reflects that the player can bounce back in even the toughest conditions.
Despite tough weather conditions that troubled most of the players on the course, Kerr kept her momentum going and recorded a much better finish compared to the recent events she participated in.
With a field as solid as the LPGA Lotte Championship, the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic may bring plenty of challenges to the world number four. However, the American star appears to be in high spirits.
