Ambitious Keating all set for 2013 Victorian Open
After winning two back-to-back LET tournaments this season, Australian Stacey Keating is now aiming to pull a similar stunt at the 2013 Victorian Open.
Keating, a fast-learning contender on the LET (Ladies European Tour), has made sure that her every move is calculated—and this is why she has vowed to keep the momentum rolling all the way through in the next season.
“I think it will be great. I have played down there quite a lot, and my grandparents have a holiday house nearby, so it will be a lot of fun, I think," said Keating who came into prominent after she won Tenerife Open De Espana Femenino and Lacoste Ladies Open De France.
Playing on her home soil is sure to give her an edge over rivals, given her past experience. However, observers have said that it is going be a turning point in Keating’s career—as it is up to her to add shine to her game or fall apart.
The Victorian Open is going to be staged at the Thirteenth Beach—a venue the young gun has played plenty of times before.
"I've played both courses at Thirteenth a little, mostly on the Beach course, but I love them both," said Keating.
“Playing in my own state with a lot of family and friends around will make for a fun week," she said. "And playing for the same prize money as the men, of course".
So far, the Aussie star has done well on the LET. Having started the 2012 season with 32nd-place finish at the Gold Coast RACV Australian Ladies Masters 2012, the 26-year-old golfer knew what would make her stand out in the lineup.
She recorded a total four top-ten finishes in the season. However, she also missed the cut in a few tournaments.
The Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open 2012 saw Keating unveil her best putting skills on the course, as she posted an overall score of 214 to take the share of fourth position on the leaderboard.
She then jetted to Prague to take part in the Raiffeisenbank Prague Golf Masters 2012, pulling off another stellar show. She carded an overall score of 210 to take the share of fifth position on the leaderboard.
