Ambitious Tseng determined to continue winning streak at Kraft Nabisco Championship
The current world number one Yani Tseng, who has grabbed yet another LPGA victory in the Kia Classic held this week at La Costa Resort and Spa, has set her sights on the major title at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
Thrilled by the stellar victory at Kia Classic, Tseng is impatiently eyeing another major breakthrough in her career, that is, to add the sixth major triumph to her profile.
The much-hyped Kraft Nabisco Championship is going to be staged from March 29 at Mission Hills Country Club, with several battle-hardened LPGA contenders.
The field at the Kraft Nabisco Championship is said be as competitive as the Kia Classic.
However, observers have predicted that Tseng is likely to hold her head high at the major, given her latest victory at La Costa.
Being one of the four major events on the LPGA Tour, the Kraft Nabisco Championship has always been regarded as the most prestigious tournament in women's golf.
The tournament is often dubbed as the Masters of female golf due largely to its competitiveness and prestige among players.
Tseng has vowed to do her best in the major championship, saying she is impatiently waiting for it and has mapped out plans to clinch another major title.
Tseng apparently looks composed and determined, as her fans are also keeping a close eye on her game with interest.
Experts said that the Kia Classic triumph is one of the most spectacular moments of Tseng's career.
With steady winds whipping across the La Costa Resort and Spa, the Taiwanese titan claimed her second consecutive LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) triumph.
She scored a stunning 14-under 274, outshining all her rivals in the field. Tseng set foot on the course in an aggressive style and kept piling up scores by making birdies.
The first round of the tournament proved a little challenging for the world number one.
Although she managed to grab an early lead by posting a 67 on the leaderboard, Caroline Hedwall and Ji Young Oh also fought their way onto the top spot on the first day.
Determined not to surrender to her nerve, Tseng restricted her rivals from taking advantage of her lousy strokes that she made on some holes.
Speaking of Tseng's performance in the Kia Classic, analysts said that the Taiwanese prodigy played the pro game she is famous for.
They said that beating her rivals with ease reflects that Tseng is eager to record more of such victories in the current season.
Her victory at the La Costa Resort and Spa was the second in a row, while she also won the Founders Cup played a few days back. Overall, she has racked up 3 titles for the 2012 season.
