Ambitious wives in history?

Hello. I am working on a creative project on Shakespeare's Macbeth for my h.s. lit class. I was thinking about re-telling the tale by using a collection of excerpts from diaries of famous, ambitious women in history who, alongside their husbands, have had similar fates to that of Macbeth and his wife. Anyone out there have any ideas/suggestions for historical figures I should use? Thanks!

Maybe Marie Antoinette?  Most ambitious wives in history made their husbands life better so not many compare with Macbeth.
