It says that you only need to put it on every day until the desired tan is achieved and then only once or twice a week there on.

However, does it not wash off in the shower? (Therefore the need to do it is everyday?)

It doesn't wash off in the shower because it actually dyes your skin

Sort of like henna

It does eventually wash off in the shower, but more like after 3 or 4 days. It will come off more if you shave. It dyes your skin so it doesn't come off after one wash. Just use it like the packet says. It might take 3 days to get it to the level you like, then top up every 3 days or so.
