The veteran AC Milan midfielder lamented the decision of the referee to award Barcelona the second penalty kick, but stated there were no
regrets by the loss.
There was much controversy involved in the second-leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie between AC Milan and Barcelona. While talking to the press
after the match, Ambrosini felt that Barca had the upper hand in the initial stages of the second-leg, however he felt his team-mates fought back well. He further commented:
“It was a game where we didn’t start well, then were able to fight back and it was balanced. I don’t know what happened with that penalty,”
The controversial incident came in the second-half after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Busquets-c33048. However, the incident only involved
a tugging of shirts, and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carles-Puyol-c8331 had not been reprimanded for his shirt pulling incident.

The Rossoneri midfielder was of the opinion that such incidents happen all the time, however some referees choose to be strict about it and others ignore
it. He felt there needed to be consistency in their decision making. He further commented:

“Barcelona played better and we didn’t do enough in the second half, but we did give them a battle. In every level and on every corner things happen, but
the interpretation changes from referee to referee. There is no uniformity.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Nocerino-c6332 equalised for the Diavolo in
the first half, and the match was evenly poised in the first half. However, the second half bought along with it much controversy and the referee awarded a penalty to Barcelona following a tussle in Milanello box.
Despite his bitter disappointment with the decision, Ambrosini was gracious in defeat and lauded the Catalan side:
“We knew Barcelona are the strongest team in the world. We leave without regrets and there were differences between the teams over the two legs, but not
all that much.”
The San Siro outfit would be turning attention to winning their domestic league, and currently top the Serie A standings.
