  1. AMD is built for gaming.

  2. AMD best gaming chip. They use intel for mac and mac aint no gaming pc.

  3. Paragraph 2 of this pretty much sums it up.

Thats comparing the fastest AMDs made to the littliest and slowest Intel quads. I build and sell gaming rigs. I send them out the door with E8500s clocked at 3.8 Ghz, althou they will go over 4, on air. Try that with any AMD. I went from ATI video cards to Nvidia cards when the 8800 series came out, Now I'm back to ATI cards. I am a fan of whatevers the fastest regardless of brand. When AMD makes a cpu thats fastest than what Intel has then I'll swap to AMD but, as you can see in the link above, thats not gonna happen for a while if ever.

I've seen AMD lovers boast about how AMDs are better for gaming but NOT ONCE have I ever seen them post a link backing up what they say like I did. You don't use a quad for gaming right now. You use a BIG Core 2 Duo. Quad pumped games are still a long way down the road. If you like quads then wait until next month when the Intel Nehalem 8 core cpus come out. The 2.66 GHz Nehalem that is supposed to cost about $350 dusts the fastest cpu out right now, the $1400 Intel QX9770 3.2 Ghz Quad Extreme.

    Paragraph 2 of this link:

AMD is getting lost in the dust.

If you wanna build a gamer put an E8500 and a couple 4870s on an X48 board with some Corsair Dominator ram and a couple Raptors in Raid0. Clock the 8500 to 3.8(9.5X400--1600FSB) and you'll max out every game there is,including Crysis.

  4. Considering the present situation I would advise you to go for E8500 Core 2 Duo/Quad/Ultimate since the performance of Phenom is questionable. But if you would want to go for a gaming PC, then try AMD Athalon X2 (4.6 Ghz - 6 Ghz). They are my choice for a gaming PC. But under these conditions E8500 will be the better choice.

P.S.: Athalon X2 4.6 Ghz is a lot cheaper than the 2 you have stated

  5. turn off your caps lock.

  6. Arguments for AMD: It has true four-way full duplex hyper threading, and Intel quad cores only have 2. It is better for multithreaded applications, and extreme multitasking.

Intel:  Has a 45 nm process that keeps temps cooler, and uses less power. Has more cache, and does slightly better in current intense gaming (no more than 5 FPS)

  7. I would say Intel. The Phenom may be faster a little bit, but it can't handle gaming really well.
