Amelia Alicia Anscelly and Soong Fie Cho stretch their winning run at National Circuit GP Finals
Malaysia’s Amelia Alicia Anscelly and Soong Fie Cho showed their impressive performance and continued their winning run in Women’s Doubles Group A at Maybank National Circuit GP Finals 2012 in Malaysia, on Thursday, December 27.
The in-form Amelia and Soong Fie were in smashing form and they easily defeated their country-mates Lydia Cheah Li Ya and Sonia Cheah Su Ya while taking just 23 minutes.
Amelia and Soong Fie, who are the fourth seeded players in Women’s Doubles category of the championship, played to their maximum potential and remained successful in winning this Group A battle in straight games with a comfortable margin of 21-16 and 21-15.
On the contrary, Lydia and Sonia failed to play attacking badminton as they could not dominate the pace of rallies at any stage and eventually bowed down against their higher ranked challengers.
It was a wonderful fight in the initial points when Amelia and Soong Fie showed a wonderful display of their impressive craft on court.
The incredible variations in Amelia and Soong Fie’s strokes enabled them to maintain their superiority against their un-seeded challengers in the arena.
Amelia and Soong Fie advanced with a terrific speed in the first part and remained in lead on the board until the break.
The underdog Lydia and Sonia failed to create trouble for their fourth seeded rivals after the mid-game interval as they lost focus in the arena and conceded many points by playing quivering badminton.
The positive and planned play of Amelia and Soong Fie assisted them to claim the opening game with a reasonable margin of 21-16.
Lydia and Sonia put in extra effort to play positive badminton in the starting half of second game but they could not construct pressure on their higher ranked opponents who were in complete control of the game.
Amelia and Soong Fie were at the best of their form as they remained successful in building a superb lead until the end of first half.
After the break, the impressive Amelia and Soong Fie continued their comfortable ride and easily ended up the second set by a superb margin 21-15 and sealed off a comprehensive victory in a dominating fashion.
