A.C Milan goalkeeper, Marco Amelia, has blamed himself for the dropped points against Bologna over the weekend.
The Italian Champions were held to a 2-2 draw by Stefano Pioli’s men at the Stadio Dall’Ara on Sunday, December 11th, 2011. Amelia was handed a rare start as a replacement for injured, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Abbiati-c9046. The 29-year-old
has shouldered the blame for dropped points and has insisted that his teammates should not be held responsible for it.
The former Genoa stopper admitted that he could have done better with Bologna’s second goal. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-c4710 Diamanti scored the goal in the second half and Amelia believes that he should have stopped the shot.
While talking to the reporters, Amelia said, “I’m hearing a lot of criticism aimed at my teammates for the draw at Bologna. However, I was to blame for the draw because I didn’t stop that shot from Alessandro Diamanti. It’s as
simple as that.”
A win would have put the Rossoneri on top of the league table as Juventus dropped points in their league game. Amelia believes that his team was unlucky as they created a lot of clear goal-scoring opportunities in the latter half
of the match. The former A.S Roma star is disappointed to squander a golden opportunity to move to the top of the table but he has urged his teammates to remain focused on the future games.
The former Italian international believes that his team must learn from their mistakes and should look to eradicate them in their next games against Siena and Cagliari respectively.
“We were unlucky. We could have been top of the table and that just makes the result even more disappointing. Now we just have to focus on the games against Siena and Cagliari. A little false step at Bologna certainly shouldn’t
stop us from our objective.” added the former Livorno star
Milan remain 3rd in the league table after picking up 28 points from 14 matches played thus far. They drift the Turin giants by two points.
