I filed as single in 2007. Was married in May 2008. Now I need to file a 1040X as I did not disclose some income so my question is do I file as single again or joint on the 1040X?

  1. you don't need change your filing status.  only report the underreported income you didn't report at time of filing.

  2. I believe it would be if you were married/single the majority of the year.

  3. If you were single in 2007 you would still file single on the amended tax return.

  4. Unless you were married during the year(07), you will not change your status.

  5. You would file single on the amended tax return for 2007, because you weren't married at the end of the 2007 tax year.

  6. You weren't married in 2007.  Your 1040X is still filed with a filing status of "single"
