Question:

America, are you proud of what you've become?

So in case you haven't seen it, the latest absolute outrage in the good ol' US of A is that earlier this month a person, Heidi Dalibor, 20, was arrested, handcuffed and 'booked' for overdue library books. Two to be exact.

I suppose we should be relieved that a SWAT team didn't burst her door down and kill her pets, or Taser her and she died.

Is this what you have allowed the land of the free and the home of the brave to become? I'm dying to hear the justifications, especially those from Texas.

  1. Wow, so obviously this sounds so horrible and atrocious the way you word it, right? And anyone that agrees would also be a monster.

She IGNORED citations and the warnings for months, and when you ignore a citation it then becomes what's called a warrant.  I have no sympathy for someone who dodges a freakin' library over-due notice like they're a debt collector.

I have a novel idea, (yes, pun intended) when you get your Social Security check this month take a bus ride to your local library and look up basic law.

You ignore fines, you get tickets, you ignore tickets, you get a warrant, you ignore a warrant...well, then you go to jail with the rest of the dead beats, like her.

  2. They should have tased her and tased her again..She had a warrant she's lucky they didn't shoot her.If this was in Los Angeles they would have killed her.

  3. Let me guess, you're voting for Obama right?

The give-a-way was the knee-jerk reflex that says all problems in the world are caused by the EVIL America.

  4. if someone borrows a book from the library, he/she must have been told the date to be returned, and it is also sticked at the last page of the page the "due return" (well maybe depending on the country). if the book is not returned on the actual date even to the last minute before the library close, then that book is considered to be overdue (and per regulations, you will be fined per day). after the lapsed of one week and the book is still not returned, a notice of overdue book will be sent to you. followed by warnings and penalty imposed. if after those notes sent to you and you don't give action nor appear at the library, then the library personnel (Chief Librarian) will have to file it to the higher authorities (Police Officers) for arrest. this is to enhance smooth usage in the library as some people might need to use that same book too and not returned yet. there is always a law and in order not to be arrested or fined, then obey the rules and regulations and follow their law!

  5. What America has become and what I am are two different things. Because I live here doesn't mean I condone what my "superiors" are doing.

  6. This lady had an active warrant for Failure to Return Library Materials.  They took her in.  She paid the $171.94.  And she was released.  Big Deal.  Don't make a mountain out of a mole hill.

  7. If you break the law you'll get arrest. America did the right thing. There's nothing to shame. Land of free doesn't mean you can do all illegal things.

  8. Sounds like she had lots of warning.

What should the US do? Let her keep the books at the expense of all the taxpayers that put up the money for the books?

    No sympathy at all.

How do they treat people who steal from the public in your nirvana?

  9. Wellll ... judging by the grin on the criminal's mug shot she's got to be having a hoot with this piece of stupidity!!

Really, I'll bet she's going to be telling this story at parties and to her grandchildren about the asinine workings of the law. The law that can be an @SS sometimes.

It looks to me like the "American Woman" has a sense of humour.
