America's obsession with Denver Broncos QB Tim Tebow continues - NFL News
With the National Football League (NFL) season over, it was hoped that America’s Tebow obsession will take a backseat at least until the beginning of the new season.
However, that scenario is unlikely to play out.
With football taking a backseat for a few months, the talk has shifted from Tebow’s skills and achievements on the field to the murky realm of celebrity gossip.
The Denver Broncos quarterback on Monday visited the Challengers Boys and Girls Club in Los Angeles to meet with almost 100 kids and shared with them his experiences, the last thing he would have expected to be asked about, was his personal life.
Leave it to the kids to give gossip magazines fuel.
During the question and answer session, someone from the young crowd asked the 24-year-old if he had ‘a thing’ for pop sensation Katy Perry.
As everyone in the room waited with bated breath for the quarterback to respond, Tebow tackled the question with class and a smile.
"No, me and Katy Perry don't have a thing, but she's a very good artist," he said, smiling when asked by one of the kids in the group.
"I'm single. But I'm doing just fine though. I'll just be around my brothers and friends. We'll just have a good time."
Well that answer will fuel more gossip from celebrity news circles.
Tebow has been linked with the “I kissed a girl” star ever since Katy Perry, daughter of evangelical pastors got divorced from British comedian, Russel Brand, after a wedding that lasted just three months.
Her parents, it seems, would love to see their daughter married to a devout Christian and rumours about the two celebrities have been doing the rounds since last month when Perry’s parents told OK! Magazine that Tebow will be perfect for the pop star.
The Broncos star has always denied any links between them.
After tackling that tough question, Tebow was back to what he does best, telling kids to set their priorities and concentrate on their education and development.
"So many times in today's society, we can get caught up in Xboxes, video games, watching TV," he said. "and forget about reading, about educating yourself and learning how to communicate with people. I just think that's so important."
The Broncos quarterback became the biggest story of the recently concluded NFL season as his public displays of religiosity piqued the interest of the crowd while his performances in a Broncos shirt leading them to the playoffs further fuelled America’s
obsession with the quarterback.
