  1. Don't hold your breath... When was the last time that America went to anybody's help?

Pagan Dan ~ I wonder - were you there when Taipei had cannons on the rooftops near Sung Shan airport?

  2. They have the TRA, but it's an american public law approved by the 96th congress, not an international treaty.

The 1958 Mutual defense treaty is no longer in force.

  3. "Chinese Taipei" is an offensive term to many people in Taiwan.

"Fancy" an all out war?  I do not know you, but it sounds like you have never been in the armed forces of  your nation, and you have no idea what war is like.

In any modern war, most of the casualites are civilians.  Old people.  Little kids.  Military personnel, win or lose, often come home broken in body, mind, and spirit.

I lived in Taiwan.  An all out war would turn my students and loved ones into dead bodies, orphans, and refugees.

I have been to China.  I do not wish anyone to endure the suffering that a war would inevitably entail.

War turns ordinary men and women into barbarians and brutes.

America HAD a defence treaty with the Republic of China, but now the USA does not recognize the ROC.  Neither the USA, nor any other nation, can have a treaty with a country that doesn't exist.

People a lot smarter than you or me, in Beijing and Taipei, are working out a solution for peaceful relations.  We Christians should pray for their success, and Chinese people should beg all the Gods for the same result.
