I sometimes watch this show called Greek, and it seems that the university intuition in the states has a lot of say when it comes to what students can get up to, banning alcohol and parties etc. Why is there such a stringent control over what these 18 plus year olds can get up to? It's a bit weird! It's like being grounded when your 20 haha. In New Zealand a person could come intoxicated to a lecture and there is not a dam thing that can be done, its his education, he paid his fee's he can do wtf he wants. There was a bar in the middle of our campus quad. Opened at 10am.

  1. Well the legal drinking age here is 21, not 18.  Also, if people come drunk to class it disrupts other students.  Yes, you paid your tuition, but so do other students - and they deserve a classroom where they aren't going to be distracted by drunk people.

You might want to come to class to party, but I would rather go to a school where students are encouraged to take school seriously.  The point of going to college is to learn and get your degree.

Sure it's fun to party, but isn't it enough to party off campus and on the weekends?  If you're so concerned about partying that you can't resist getting drunk at school, then your priorities are messed up.
