American Airlines E-Ticket check in question?

I'm flying out of St Louis tomorrow and i've got an E-ticket and I saw that I can check in online... if I do that can I go straight to the gate and board? I don't have any bags to check in I just have my carry on.

This is my first domestic flight in the US, so any help is appreciated

When you check in online, you should be able to print your boarding pass.  If you have a printed boarding pass and are not checking in any bags, then you're all set, and you can go directly to security.
