I'm moving to the UK next year. I know that i cannot bring my DVD player over there due to the difference in outlet voltage or what not, but i was wondering if i could still bring all of my DVDs? Will I be able to play them in a british DVD player? Any help?

  1. I'm not entirely sure. But I think you can buy region free DVD players. Or if you can set your player to region 1 for USA DVD's you should be able to watch your collection with no problem. Or if you can set it to region 0 -  you can play DVD's from anywhere in the world. But PAL discs and NTSC discs must be played in a compatible unit so be careful. Just ask lots of questions before you buy your new player. :-)

  2. Ignore the above people.  All DVD players now sold in the UK are either Region Free or you can type a code on the remote to make them region free (even £20 ones from supermarkets).  Region 1 (US) are sold in shops as well, as some shows are released before the Region 2 (Europe) counterparts.

NTSC/PAL is irrelevant as you can choose which one on the DVD player

  3. as far as I'm aware DVD's in the US are exactly the same as DVD's in the UK
