I have a $25 gift card from american express and every time I try to use it online it says to please enter a valid Card #. Went to the online site to check the balance on the card so I enter the card # and it says the same thing. It says to enter the 15 numbers on the front of the card and the 4 numbers that are also on the front of the card (not mixing them up). Also the same 15 numbers on the front are on the back too but with an extra 3 numbers. What are the 3 extra numbers for and what should I do about this problem?

  1. When they ask you to enter your card info, the account number is the 15 digits on the front of the card.  When they ask for a CCV or whatever they call it, they are asking for the "extra" 3 numbers on the back of the card.

Be sure that the website you are trying to use it on accepts American Express and you shouldn't have any problems.

    Good luck.

  2. Actually its called the V-Code it is the last 3 digits on the back they often ask for this to verify you physically have have the card. The numbers on the front should be self explanatory.
