American Football Players Brawl: University of Tennessee football players knocked out an off-duty officer

Looks like the American National Football players like making the headlines, last time due to drugs, arms related issues and this time for a massive bar fight.

According to the various news channels ten, Tennessee football players broke into a fight early morning on Friday, confirmed by a police spokesman who said they arrested an 18 year old freshman named Da’Rick Rogers, who was charged of resisting an arrest and disorderly conduct and there are three other players under investigation.

According to  a few witnesses, one of the officers who tried to stop the brawl was hit on the head by an unknown player, who kicked him countless times till the police officer got knocked out, fleeing the scene afterwards. Out of the ten players at the fight, six have been suspected as the potential individuals who might have attacked the officer. From the suspected six, most of them are Tennessee football players who have previously been charged of attempted armed robbery.

Update:

According to the Knoxville police, two players have been convicted of leaving the off-duty officer, who tried breaking the fight out cold. The police say that more could be facing charges but as of now, they are not certain or have substantial evidence to evict any player.

The players that have been arrested are freshman receiver Da’Rick Rogers and Darren Myles Jr. who plays as a defensive back. Darren Myles is a rising sophomore in the University of Tennessee and has been charged of resisting arrest, assault and evading trust.

A witness reportedly said that Myles after fleeing from the brawl tried to hide under a car as one of the officers tried to arrest him, Myles apparently struck the officer with his elbow right on to his face leaving him unconscious.  This has been the second off season arrest for Myles, who is only 19 years of age. Last year he was charged with the same offences, including public intoxication. Derek Dooley, who is the volunteer coach handed the arrest internally leaving last year’s case still pending. Dooley has dismissed Myles from the Tennessee team this year

Dooley said, “It is a privilege, not a right, to be a member of the University of Tennessee football team. ... As I have referenced on many occasions, a change in culture is achieved in time through a combination of education, discipline and support”.

According to many witnesses that came forward later said that the fight broke out around 1:50am and that the two patrons who got into the fight with the football players were all pushed out of the bar by the employees.

The Knoxville police have detained three others players named John Brown, who plays as a defensive tackle, Denarius Moore who is a rising senior receiver and Matt Milton who plays as a receiver. All three young players have been questioned thoroughly but not have been charged. Sources claim another defensive tackle Montori Hughes was also present at the fight but not has been questioned yet.

Robert Capouellez was the off duty officer from Knoxville who tried to break out the fight. Capouellez was in an extremely serious condition after being knocked in the head, he is being treated at the University of Tennessee Medical Center since Friday, police has confirmed that he was hit several times after being knocked out. Another guy Garry Russell, who was at the bar was beaten down badly by the football players and was being treated at the UT Medical Center.

The owner of Bar Knoxville, Sandy Morton told the press she has never faced such an issue before, especially from Vols players.  Sandy said she does not know what exactly happened but around 10 guys started beating this gentleman who was sitting next to them.
