  1. Lol union is soft. NFL is way way tougher. Rugby league is the toughest game u can play

  2. other that football is all about collisions and not letting them gain and inch while rugby is more about posession that territory one Huge reason for the pads is that they make you square so you can just smash into someone without any real skill in bringing them down if you're heavy just hitting will be enough, rugby's better anyways

  3. Sorry bud, it's not even close.

  4. what's england or rugby got to do with anything? you're like a little squeaky sound coming over from that tiny island saying please America, still notice us, pleeeeease!

  5. why not go and tell the players to stop wearing them, because you're bothered by it

  6. do you need a dentist?

  7. the pads are there because people got paralyzd and got extreme concussions. We can also tackle below the knees so it hurts a lot more. But even with the pads evey week people get snet to the hospital. Take my friend hunter for instance, he broke his leg severly playing football with all the pads on.

  8. BECAUSE RUGBY IS A MANS GAME!!!!!!!

AMERICAN FOOTBALL IS FOR COLLEGE BOYS

  9. Have to disagree with the violent part.  American Football is more violent in the collisions and such BUT I can almost guarantee they wouldn't do half the stuff they do if they were not wearing all that protection!  Well, maybe they would, but their career would be about 0.32984 years.

  10. nfl lol that game is a circus for neanderthals lol but there not real hardcore neanderthals there soft wimpy american neanderthals lol    rugby is faster and harder

  11. #1 Reason... which separates gridiron from rugby... BLOCKING (besides the forward pass, of course)!!! Helmets and facemasks protect primarily from incidental eye-gouging, and other dirty things that happen in blocking. BTW although I LOVE rugby, our game is definitely the toughest of the 3. It's all set-piece and full-blast, and the training is anaerobic, as opposed to rugby which is aerobic like soccer and basketball.

  12. Have to agree as a man that played both codes the rugby union game is more extreme and very violent. Rugby is also a much harder sport. The fact that i wore padding in football made me a bit soft when i came back to Union.

  13. Hey mate I would hardly call English rugby more violent than American foot ball. The only reason you do not need to wear protective gear  is you are continually kicking the ball

and seem to play this other game of kick and chase. Have you ever heard of running with the ball and creating trys do you know what tries are??. Just watch the world cup and see how boring you were. You were lucky the boks decided to beat you at your own boring game if they had decided to play the style of game they thrashed you with in the first game, the score would have been huge!! So be careful when criticising other sports.

  14. See we Americans actually would not like to be paralyzed or mentally retarded for the rest of our lives, there fore we wear pads, and American football is so much more intense than rugby so don't go saying that it isn't.

  15. Maybe they think that wearing helments make them look meaner.  but if you ever watch a NFL game, and there is a good play, the players will smack each other on the head, so maybe that's why they wear helmets.

  16. i played football in high school and am now playing rugby so i think i have an idea of what is required for both.

the pads are intended primarily for protection but have the added effect of making the wearer feel invincible and therefor more reckless with their body. if you watch football and where on the opposition's body contact is made you will see lots of energy being imparted into the torso of the player and that is a form tackle in football. in rugby a form tackle consists of attacking the upper leg of the opposition. football is a more violent game but rugby players are athletic. because of all the different facets that they must play. in football not so.

  17. England is the pussiest rugby team of all... a bunch of lardos protecting a skinny whimpy kicker.. sounds exactly like american football.

  18. come up against the all blacks without any padding, id like to see that, any one remember the lomu side step, yanks have a look on youtube at it.

also we play with one team not 2.

also we have contested scrums and any person who comes out of a rugby match without stud marks in there back, just aint playin the game.

i seen taken that many cheapys in rugby not because its a cheap sport, but because its a tough sport
