  1. What kind of study guide is this? It certainly looks biased.

    1. a

    2. d.

  2. Contemporary liberals want more government, more regulation and more involvement. They do not want the same tax. They want the rich to pay a higher percentage because they want to help the lower and middle classes, including making health care more accessible to lower income families. They are pro-union (again, having more involvement and protection for the worker) and they would definitely support safety protections in the workplace (although most people really would be). Therefore, they would oppose a law to A, impose the same income tax on all citizens. This is called a flat tax and some Republicans/Conservatives are for this but just about every liberal/Democrat would oppose such a law.

A conservative is for free and fair trade, family values and pro-business. They are also for less government involvement, fewer laws, etc. Therefore, they would oppose requiring business to make contributions to charitable organizations. They generally do not want to make laws concerning businesses but let the market and the economy be open and free to work itself out.

Good luck! I'm sure you have many more questions. As a Government teacher, I have never given just a 2 question assignment. :)

  3. 1 is a, liberals want the rich to pay a larger % of their money than poor people.

2 is d, charity should be encouraged, but not mandatory.

  4. 1.---D

    2.---C

    Good luck on the test!

  5. 1. A contemporary liberal would most likely oppose a federal law created to:

    a. impose the same income tax on all citizens.

Liberals oppose "regressive" taxes which place a high burden on the poorest segments of society.  Flat taxes/fixed tax rates are a form of regressive tax.

    2. A traditional conservative would most likely oppose a federal law created to:

This question is a bit more difficult to answer because the historical notions of conservativism have evolved.  I'm guessing this is for a high school assignment and that the teacher doesn't want you thinking that deeply into it.  That being said, the answer is most likely D (90%).  B is the only other possibility due to the historical preference of conservatives for governments to stay "small" and extremely limited in focus.

  6. C & C

  7. answer one is A  answer 2 is D

  8. A and D

  9. 1, A 2, D are the most correct answers.  in the future if you try to create a chart called a political spectrum placing values and various representitives in the chart it will help to grasp these questions in the future. Just find extreme examples at either end- say Ron Paul for extremely conservative because he wants to limit the scope of the federal government and remove institutions not established in the constitution.  This will help you to prepare for the test, hope this helps
