I'm going on holiday to the USA in a few days with friends. The only American beer the UK knows is Budweiser (and its not very popular) and Ive also heard cider is just a term for apple juice in the USA.

So

Would I be able to get the brands listed below in the USA?

What terms would they use in an American pub for the drinks Below ?

Cider (Magners-Strongbow-Bulmers)

Bitter (John smiths-Tetleys-Guinness)

Larger (San Miguel-Becks-Carlsberg)

  1. FYI, In the US, Holiday= Thanksgiving, Christmas....

    Vacation=taking time off to travel.

Sam Adams Lager is a very, very good beer.

    Enjoy your stay here.

  2. k well cider is the term for warm apple juice so i wouldn't use that one, and lager they'll know what your talking about, guinness you'll get(not sure that they'll carry john smiths and tetleys) and for cider, well i've never heard of those brands before, you could try coors instead of budweiser, and samuel adams for a lager, only it tends to be a bit thick

  3. Glad to see you've got your priorities right then. LOL

  4. They also don't call them pub's they call them bars.

  5. You'll get your lager and your guiness but dont know about your cider, just try them all.

  6. Go someplace known for beer like Old Chicago (these are in every city) and you will find beers from around the world. These are some beers from England that I found on their main website, but each location also has additional choices so you may find some of the others your looking for...Bass Pale Ale, Boddington's Pub Ale, Newcastle Brown Ale, Samuel Smith Nut Brown Ale, Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout, Theakston Old Peculier Ale, Samuel Smith Taddy Porter. Bar tenders at Old C's will know the terms Cider, Bitter, and Larger and make good recommendations. :) Some other interesting ones I may have to try!:

Snakebite  -  (Guinness & Hard Cider)

AKA Black Velvet; a variation on the British mix of Guinness & Champagne, but all beer, baby..very refreshing, so try it!

Eclipse  -  (Guinness & Blue Moon) An Old Chicago Exclusive! Come visit the dark side of the moon

Belgian Brunette  -  (Guinness & Stella Artois)

Another OC exclusive! We made it up! Get it? Stella is from Belgium and Guinness floats on top...A Belgian Brunette!

  7. somebody needs an AA meeting.lol. pub is called bar. i only seen guiness and becks. if your looking for an ale sam adams is good. or if your looking for a regular brew heiniken, becks, el presidente, corona, i dont like american beers like bud or coors they taste nasty. stick with the german and mexican imports. oh yeah canadian beer is even worse dont bother with it.
