American Idol Audition NEXT WEEK!?

Hey!

I'm an 18-year-old girl, a mezzo soprano with a strong alto belt and I can even hit some tenor notes. I've been singing professionally since 20002.

Anyway, I just decided that I'm going to try out for American Idol in San Francisco on July 17. It's the only city AI is going to that is anywhere close to where I live, and I've been meaning to give the show a try for a couple years now.

But they want you to have three songs ready! I only have one!

PLEASE HELP!

I'm looking for OBSCURE, mid-tempo songs -- could have been sung by a woman or man. Preferably something from before the 90s, but it could be contemporary if it wasn't too overdone.

i'm not sure what song u could do but try go for a popular song that many people know but also not a song that everyone sings lol...

That's soo awesome that you're trying out for American Idol, good luck with everything! I tried out for "The Next Star" Like a mini Canadian Idol for kids, but didn't make it :( .

Anyway, Try A moment Like this. It's a great song and has been sung by all the famous celebrities off that show. It will probably work well for you and show them you can sing! Oh, and don't worry if you don't have 3 songs ready, they usually just here one and decide! Use your song, A moment like this and if they ask for a third song(which I doubt they will) sing: "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star"  When I tried out for the next star they asked you have have 2 songs prepared but only asked everyone for one.
