American Lady and Glamorista to represent trainer Bob Baffert in the A Gleam Handicap
The Grade 2 A Gleam Handicap is creating a buzz all around, since it is a Breeders’ Cup Challenge “Win and You’re In” race, it is scheduled to take place over a distance of seven furlongs on 14th July, 2012 at the Betfair Hollywood Park.
So far, the speculation is that Bob Baffert’s charge, Glamorista will compete in this event, and seems like the talented rider, Chantal Sutherland, will be aboard her.
Chantal Sutherland gained the ultimate prize when she became the first woman to win the Grade 1 Hollywood Gold Cup on 7th July, 2012, over 1 ¼ miles at the Betfair Hollywood Park, where Game On Dude defeated his stable-mate, Richard’s Kid.
The Kentucky bred, Glamorista, is entering the race with a good chance and she may perform well, considering that she was previously paired up with Chantal Sutherland in an Allowance race on 4th May, 2012, where she finished
second to Peter Miller’s charge, Reneesgotzip, over a distance of 6 ½ furlongs.
The daughter of Unbridled's Song, out of mare Critical Crew, has tasted victory before, and that might come in handy when she takes on this race.
Teamed with rider, Martin Garcia, the mare briskly covered the six furlong track at the Santa Anita Park in an Allowance Optional Claimer that took place on 11th
March, 2012.
The five-year-old completed the course in 1 minute and 09.22 seconds over John Sadler’s charge, Hout Bay.
Bob Baffert will also be represented by American Lady who he trains for owner Kaleem Shah. The filly has competed in five starts so far, and landed two victories and finished twice as a runner-up.
Things look promising for the daughter of Stormy Atlantic, foaled by mare Comfort Zone, since her record is impressive and she is capable of doing better things in her career.
This race will test her ability and potential. If she is capable enough, she will earn a ticket to Santa Anita Park to compete in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint, due to take place on 2nd November, 2012.
