American Red Cross is organising the eighth edition of the annual charity golf tournament which will be held at the Cedarbrook Country Club on 14 April, 2011.
Cathy Loggins, Executive Director of the Red Cross made the announcement on Monday in a press conference and said, “We promise you will feel good knowing you are helping to save lives and assist families in need while at the same time having a fun-filled
morning on a beautiful course.”
She disclosed that the funds retrieved from the tournament would go in supporting the community. She specified that the families and individuals of Surry County who had been a victim of all forms of calamities would benefit from the money.
Players would start signing up for the event at 7 a.m., which will be followed by a breakfast for the participants. Each one of them will pay $100 per head, or a company can sponsor four players for $500. In addition, the company would get to place their
name on one of the holes. If a company does not have any players, it can still sponsor a hole for $100.
The players will tee off at 8 a.m. and they will be served free food throughout the tournament. The prize distribution ceremony will follow the conclusion of the event. Apart from the tournament, the participants and the spectators will receive free lessons
on ‘how to deal with emergency in all kinds of situations.’
American Red Cross is a non-government organisation operating in the world since 1881. The organisation uses donations from various sources in form of blood, money and time. Conducting a golf tournament in the area is one of the methods to gather donations.
Activities of such type not only help in making a better society, but also provide awareness to people regarding the methods to deal with natural calamities.
