American Revolution Question: HELP!?

Were the colonies more similar or different on the eve of the American Revolution? Explain. Were they in any way united? If so, to what extent? If not, why? Was there a common “American Culture” by 1760?

The colonies were mostly different from each other, as most of them had varying starts depending on geography, culture, and religion of those who first settled them.  For example, the colonies in the north were based primarily in industry and manufacturing the things they needed.  In the south you had the agricultural colonies, which depended mainly on slaves and large plantations and farms in order to sell or trade for the things they need.  The north was cold and better for logging and fishing, and the south was warm and better for farming. Thus is also the basis for the American Civil War.  But anyway.

As for being united, they weren't really.  The only things that really united them was that they were on the same continent, and after the civil war over in England finished and the British started cracking done on the "undisciplined" colonies in America, the various rules and regulations imposed by the British were considered "injustices."  The colonies liked the freedom they had during Britain's civil war.  They were united in that.  And when those freedoms were taken away, the disagreement with that partly united them as well.

And there wasn't really an American Culture by 1760.  At that point, "America" was just a bunch of singular colonies with their own agenda for the most part.

In an answer, they were forced to work with one another. Some had similarities, some couldn't stand each other. (Many of these same relations still exist.)

Keep in mind many of the colonies simply wanted to "scare" King George into listening to them, not a revolution.

An American Culture...no. There wasn't American unity yet. The states were all acting under their rules to which many did not agree with other states. (Research South Carolina.)

Unfortunately, the relations with the various native American tribes were somewhat universal with the colonies, that being an attitude of superiority and broken agreements.
