American Revolutionary War Help?

Tomorrow im doing an essay on the topic: American Revolutionary War, Why The Americans won and Why The British lost, I have my key points lined up but im no good at introductions, can anyone give me a few pointers?

When one reflects over the monumental struggles to throw off the shackles of tyranny & oppression the British government and military imposed upon the American colonies, it is even more impressive when you consider only about a third of the population actively supported the Revolution.  

What you want to do is give the reader an idea of where you're going.  You do that by highlighting a key point or two.  It's meant to induce the reader's interest to delve further into the subject matter.
