American University ground ready to host the 2011 Futures Development Invitational Camp: Hockey News
Just after the conclusion of Senior Women’s National Championship, the campus of American University is being encompassed by the best and privileged hockey players as 2011 Futures Development Invitational Camp is being commenced on its ground. The Senior
Women’s National Championship finished last Friday, with New Jersey’s team being crowned as the new champion of National Senior Women.
Sixty-eight mature high school players are invited to attend the privileged camp and the selection of these players is totally based on their performance in the previously held 2010 National Futures Championship. The invited players come from all over the
country for further improvement and development of their gaming skills, by keeping in their mind the inspiration and dreams to represent their country at an international level.
Having skipped the traditional Memorial Day celebrations, some of the nation’s most excellent and top class coaches are there to give their coaching skills to these brilliant players. The coaches include Steve Jennings, the head field hockey coach of American
University and Pam Stuper, the head field hockey coach of Yale University.
“This camp is great because not only does it offer the opportunity for some of the nation’s best athletes to play together, but it also provides them with instructions by top coaches,” Pam Stuper, the co-head coach of Futures Development Invitational Camp
stated his views.
It also consists of international video recording, which is frequently reported by Terry Walsh, the Technical Director of USA Field Hockey. One thing about the video sessions is that the clips are shown a couple of times, then are slowed down and have voice
over instruction. So one really knows how the players are performing. Looking at with in-depth details helps the players to analyse the weakness and areas of improvement.
Emy Guttman, one of the participants in the Futures Development Invitational Camp, expressed her feelings about the camp when she received the invitation to FDIC. She is willing to participate not only for the improvement of her game, but also to have the
experience of playing with great players from across the country. She also stated that it is an entertaining experience and has gained a lot of skills from the coaches.
