American Vanes Martirosyan congratulates WBC Light Middleweight champion Saul Alvarez – Boxing news
The American professional boxer, Vanes “The Nightmare” Martirosyan is very impressed with the current WBC Light Middleweight champion, Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez’s last fight performance.
The Mexican professional boxer, Santos Saul Alvarez, who fights at Light Middleweight, Welterweight, and Light Welterweight divisions, displayed extraordinary boxing skills in his last twelve rounds competitive bout fighting against Ryan Rhodes recently
at the VFG Arena in Jalisco, Mexico.
The 20-year-old, Saul Alvarez won the technical knockout decision to claim the WBC Light Middleweight title.
Martirosyan said, “Canelo looked great. He really put his punches together and made Rhodes fight tentatively.”
The 25-year-old Martirosyan won the title fight verses undefeated Alvarez after successfully winning the seven-round knockout decision over Saul Roman on June 4, 2011 at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles. Martirosyan has suggested September 17, 2011 as the
date to face Alvarez possibly near the Mexican Independence Day weekend.
Martirosyan, while speaking to the press mentioned, “I hear Canelo wants to fight in September. I say let's do it. We can sell out STAPLES, he has his Mexican fans and along with all my Armenian fans I also have many Mexican fans. I would be honoured to
fight on that date.”
Martirosyan believes that his competition with Alvarez is going to be a fascinating one between the two warriors. He said this was the type of fight which boxing fans want to see.
“How often do you get two undefeated fighters in the ring together? My style and Canelo's style guarantees a great fight for the fans. One thing I know is that it won't go the distance,” Martirosyan said.
After winning his last bout against Roman, Martirosyan has become a mandatory contender to face Alvarez. Martirosyan does not think that is there any need to enforce his right and there will be a definite fight between the two.
Martirosyan has featured in 30 fights in his career- all of whom he has won including 19 knockout victories.
Hopefully, the competition between the two will be interesting and an entertaining one. Let’s see how it transpires.
