American champion Hansen retires
The American horse racing industry got deprived of two racing legends in a go, Hansen and Get Stormy. Both the famous racing icons fell victim to the racing injuries, with the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner, Hansen. The three-year-old colt missed the Travers
Stakes due to the aftermath of the rather serious injury.
"It's more than a little inflammation; it's a bowed tendon," Dr. Hansen said of the injury. "But he's not sore, and it doesn't hurt him. He acts like he doesn't know it's supposed to hurt him. He looks at the track and wants to get back on it."
"Hansen proved he was precocious, which is a good thing in breeding, and had miler speed," Dr. Hansen said. "He also was a champion, so there's nothing more to prove. It would have been nice to try to win another Breeders' Cup (race), but Mother Nature is
telling us to pass his genes on."
Hansen when in the racing form was the champion of his era, he landed the Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and won the two-year-old male championship. This August saw him bidding farewell to the racing career.
His breeding plans have not been laid out as yet but the colt has been stabled at Trackside Training Centre in Louisville.
The last possible race of his career was the Travers Stakes on 25th August that he missed due to being out of from, and it was graceful of the trainer to pull off such an incredible horse from the career without hurting his integrity.
Hansen last raced in the West Virginia Derby on 4th August.
It did not take Tapit’s son long at all to prove his racing potential and ability. His cleared his maiden by the massive margin of 13 ¼ lengths at the Turfway Park. His first two races were at the same venue and were integral to prove his worth and capacity
for the forth coming races.
One of the landmark achievements of his career was in the Bluegrass Cat Kentucky Cup Juvenile Stakes which he landed by the margin of 13 ¼ lengths.
His racing career is a h**l one to look back at and there will be a while since a compatible racing machine will grace the track.
