Can you believe that Obama wants to make it mandatory for American children learn Spanish. Is this the United States anymore or is this a push for the North American Union. What next Dolleros.

  1. I think you misquoted him.

He said that it should be important for American children to learn more than one language.

That works for me - I don't mind if it is German, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese Arabic....It's nice to have the opportunity to use new information to connect with people outside of one cultural group. And that is all language is - ways to spread information.

  2. Did he say make it mandatory?  Or just recommend it?  Many school systems have it mandatory to learn SOME language.

  3. What obama should be stressing is that the people that come to America should be learning ENGLISH.

And if they do not then out they go.

Enough with bending America's rules and letting these people get away with it.

  4. No I do not believe that OBama will require American children to learn Spanish. You must be campaigning against him.

  5. NO! There is a reason Spanish is a FOREIGN language! i can understand learning a 2nd language for commerce, travel, etc. but i REFUSE to learn a 2nd language or have my tax dollars go to a program for children to Spanish just because Latin Americans refuse to learn English when they move here. There are 3 countries in North America and English is the language of a majority of them. Do schools in Mexico teach English? This country has English as a de facto national language. why should we accommodate them? My German and Italian ancestors had to learn English when they came here and so should everyone else! The problem today is that we think we should accommodate EVERYONE for EVERYTHING!

I think every student should learn a second or even a third language to be properly rounded. Schools used to give a choice of what language to learn, if one was even required. the prefered 2nd language in schools used to be a choice between Latin, German or French. Now its SPANISH. Spanish or don't graduate. WHAT A CHOICE!

  6. You got it , the missing link has been sracthen his butt then eat en without wash en his hands.

  7. Learning a second language can be a good and helpful thing, BUT...

If young Americans are required to learn Spanish due to political reasons (such as unintelligent or lazy Hispanics being either too stupid to learn English or too incompetant, thus requiring Americans to learn Spanish to accomodate them), then it isn't a good idea.

I support young Americans being required to learn a second language (and we are - when I was in high school a couple of years ago, we were required to learn any foreign language of our choice - German, French, Spanish, Italian, Chinese etc. - for at least 2 years), but only so long as it's done for educational purposes and isn't political.

  8. Well I disagree that it should be mandatory. Everyone has their right to remain ignorant and monolingual.

I also disagree that it should be limited to Spanish. Everyone (if they don't want to remain ignorant and monolingual) should have the right to choose what second language they want to be fluent in.

But I extremely agree that more Americans need to be fluent in other languages. How is it possible that everyone around the world can learn and understand what we speak but we can't understand or speak the rest of the world. That puts America at an incredible disadvantage.

    Wake up people.

  9. I agree with ya Kat M!!

  10. Well, it is clear that you are against instruction

I imagine that you are pushing to destroy schools and want to go back to the Stone Age

  11. No I can't believe it because he didn't say it.  Time to put the LISTENTING ears on... Obama was saying immigrants to this country should learn English AND that American children will benefit from learning a second language, Spanish or othewise.

  12. I'll repeat what I said the other 200 times I answered this Fixed Noise talking point:

American children should, finally, be asked to learn something.  Spanish is as good as any subject.

Our children are functional illiterates.  It you want more - look at the other posts.

  13. no in england you have to learn either german spanish or french

    i learnt german and french

  14. That is pure pandering to one block of voters -- Hispanics.  This merely reinforces the racism and hatreds that motivate Obama.  Anyone who votes for him supports racism, class and racial hatreds, divisiveness, etc.

While I certainly encourage schools to offer foreign languages, and encourage students to learn at least one foreign language well, it is a matter of choice which language one learns, and a matter of talent, ability and work whether one can and does.

Also note that this is another one of Obama's taxaholic plans.  We can hardly afford to teach English to all the immigrants coming here.  And now he wants everyone (including our immigrants from China, India, Nigeria, et alia ad infinitum) to learn Spanish, too!  Do you have any idea how many billions of dollars that is going to cost us taxpayers?  At federal, state & local levels, a conservative guestimate is in excess of $30 billion (federal spending alone on ESL is $13 billion; plus state & local).  That $30 billion costs $100 per person in the US. Do you want your annual income taxes to increase by another $100/person in your household?

  15. Obama is a joke that needs a good eye opener on what he wants to do to this country, he is disgusting and about as unpatriotic as they come. All he wants is to give illegal criminals amnesty and he'll go about it until we put a stop to it!!! I can not believe anyone from this country would vote for such a piece of $hit!!

  16. I don't think it he said that... because everybody in high school if they want they cant take another language to learn as extra class or some because they really want to learn but it shouldn't be forced.....

But some who learn an extra language are payed more......!!!

  17. well i do think that it is already in the process of becoming mandatory ...i mean with obama it may come sooner but it will happen eventually. personally i enjoy learning spanish in school not  just because i know it will help me in the future but because its a great language structurally and grammatically

but maybe im just a nerd lol.

  18. Say not to monolingualism and other retrograde educational domestic policies!
