American dream?!?!?

Question

i am writing an essay on the american dream. what do you think would be a good ARGUABLE topic sentence (thesis)

and two or three belief statements..i'm not very good at this..

I'm not sure exactly how to put it but I think the American Dream is the idea that each person's happiness or opportunity for a successful/fulfilling life is directly based on their abilities and hard work, and not on some predetermined status or class rank in society.  Basically you get out of life what you put into it, no matter what your background is, where you came from, etc.
