American going to france while on visit to england? Does he need a passprt or anything like that for the..?

They will not allow him on the Eurostar without one, and they will want to know how long he plans to stay in France, etc. They will also need to check his passport to make sure he has not already overstayed his UK visa (they automatically give a 90 day visitor's visa at passport control when you enter the UK). No special visa will be required to enter or leave France.

  7. Yes you will need your passport, it is another country altogether.  If you are going for a holiday (i.e you have to come to europe for a few weeks and have your return ticket already) you will fill out a temporary visa on the plane, you will also fill out one of these from US to UK.
