  1. Congratulations!  You are going to have a wonderful time.  Yes you will be stared at at first but after they get used to you that will end.  They will probably assign a student to be your mentor until they figure out how much Japanese you understand.  If you are good at sports, they will have volleyball, basketball, softball, swimming, pingpong and other sports for girls.  They will also have other clubs (band & etc.).

This is called Bu-kai and if you join one these activities it will take up most of your free time and you will meet some of your best friends here.

  2. Just get used to being stared at. Embrace your different-ness! Actually Nagoya is quite a big city. Get out there and try everything, do everything, sample every food you are asked to try. Always smile and say hello. People that look grouchy and mean will magically transform if you smile at them and greet them. And if you ever feel like people are talking about you, they probably are. Just tell yourself that they are saying good things!

  3. You will be stared at a lot, but they will get used to you and be your friends, japenese teenagers are very curious to western style of living. Good luck to you, you will enjoy your time there!
