American men’s national team set to play a friendly tournament – Volleyball news
The men’s national volleyball team of USA is currently undergoing extensive training and practice for the upcoming Olympic Qualifiers.
The US team has quite busy schedule to follow up on this summer. Quite recently, the USA Volleyball has announced that the national team will have friendly matches in the first week of May.
The players of the national team will be divided into two groups: Blue team and Red team. The Red vs. Blue matches will take place on Friday, May 4. The Walter Pyramid in Long Beach California, which is an excellent training facility, will host the intra-squad
scrimmage.
The one-day friendly tournament of the US National Team will be followed by NORCECA Men’s Continental Olympic Qualification Tournament on May 7. The same Walter Pyramid Stadium will provide the backdrop for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
Speaking of the Blue vs. Red tournament and the Olympic Qualification Tournament, the Head Coach of US Junior National team Alan Knipe (Huntington Beach, Calif.) said, “This will be a final warm-up for our team before it competes at the NORCECA Men’s Olympic
Qualifier.  We invite volleyball fans to share in our preparation for a very important tournament.”
The friendly matches will surely help the team to polish their skills before the tough challenge. The players will be able to form right combinations and better attack/defence strategies for the Olympic Qualifiers. The NORCECA Men’s Continental Olympic Qualification
Tournament will take place from May 7-12 and the top team of the tournament will reserve a berth in the 2012 London Olympic Games.
The volleyball fans are encouraged to come and watch the friendly matches of the US Men’s National Volleyball Squad. The tickets will be available at the gate, which will probably cost from $5 to $8. The senior citizens and young kids of ages between 4 and
14 will be allowed to enter after paying 5 dollars per head, while the adults will be charged $8 for the day.
It is indeed going to be a great opportunity for volleyball enthusiasts to catch up with the players and coaches of the junior national team. The visitors will be allowed to ask the players for autographs and pictures.
