and also do you have SATS and GCSEs and A levels? and how many grade exams do you have to take at the end of each grade? and tell me more about having to take exams at the end of each grade?

  1. It goes like this:

First year in high school or university (grade 9): freshman

    Second year (grade 10): sophomore

    Third year (grade 11): junior

    Fourth year (grade 12): senior

Most start school being 5 years old in kindergarten.  Depends whether your district offers a preschool (which mine does).  If it does, you can be 3 or 4 in preschool.

Standard grading and age starts with 5 in kindergarten, age 10 in grade 5, 13 in grade 8, 14 in grade 9, 15 in grade 10, 16 in grade 11, 17 in grade 12.  In some districts there could be as much as a year more age in each grade depending on when the cut off point for age is.  Usually you're 18 when you graduate high school as long as you never fail and start it on time.

I'm not familiar with SATs, GCSEs or A levels.  I'm an elementary school teacher and a recent university graduate.  Sorry.

In some districts all kids write exams in high school.  Where I live you can get exemptions if your grades are over 75% and you don't have to write.  Don't worry about exams.  Most teachers do a lot of prepping for you.  They review the year AND usually have one mock exam if it is your first try at exams.
