  1. Well I took it one-on-one through a neighbor friend who teaches it at a local public school (but supports homeschooling wholeheartedly), but along witht hat I used books and videos form the public library as well as videos  online. See if there's anyonge in your town who could teach you, or see if you and your parents can learn it togeth3er using books and such from the library.

  2. Our local library has many resources.

I took classes at our local community college.   You may want to try that as a dual enrollment class.

  3. well

i don't know of any place   BUT    try  google  or   go to  www.goodsearch.com   and  try there     for  books

but  if you do search   try  searching for

    american sign language BOOKS

the word book is the key

  4. Either take a class, or be prepared to fork out a bit for materials. You can't learn ASL or any other sign language from a book, you'll need dvds or videos. Once you can sign a bit, see if you can pay someone to tutor you.

When picking resources, steer clear of anything that involves sign singing. Do look for products that claim to teach grammar and classifiers. Don't buy anything that doesn't include grammar. http://www.harriscomm.com/catalog/produc... seems popular. I don't know if it is the best, because I'm in Australia and haven't used any ASL products. If you take my advice and look for "grammar" in the blurb, you'll be alright. If possible, do your research to find the best materials, then get your local library to buy them :) They really do get expensive. If you have a membership to your local university, they may have some materials you can borrow. To learn properly though, you need to follow a course of study that random vids won't give you.
