American squad for 10th FINA Short Course World Championship in Dubai
37 leading swimmers from America will travel to Dubai to compete in the 2010 FINA Short Course World Championships from 15th to the 19th of December. The squad also comprises of four gold medallists from the 2008 Olympics in the shape
of Ryan Lochte, Natalie Coughlin, Aaron Peirsol and Rebecca Soni for the four day international meet.

It’s an experienced team as out of the entire US squad, 20 swimmers are Olympians. As a result, it is expected to be a star-studded affair with current World Champions Ryan Lochte and Nathan Adrian in the scheme of things as well.
However, Ryan will be visiting Dubai for the first time. In recent discussions, the swimmer has expressed his eagerness to compete in Dubai who seemed intrigued by the idea of seeing the United Arab Emirates for the first time in his life. Lochte further
opined that the World Championships in Dubai was a great get together for some of the best swimmers around the globe, competing in an international competition.
This will also be a once in a lifetime chance for fans in the UAE and surrounding countries to get to watch their swimming heroes. All in all, this event is expected to be a spectacle for the crowd as the best in the business will showcase their talents
and skills.
Dubai is expected to be a thrilling venue with glorious ceremonies and great hospitality welcoming all the participating teams. The event will also mark the 10th FINA Short Course World Championship, an event which began after the opening Championships
that took place in Palma de Mallorca, Spain in 1993. Dubai will be expected to maintain its high standards and execute a great sporting exhibition which will be staged at the brand new Dubai Sports Complex.
Team America looks like a rock solid outfit. The team has an excellent combination of youth and experience. The youngsters in the team will have a perfect chance to learn from their mentors and swimming icons. On the other hand, the veterans will get a chance
to prove their mettle in front of the world. The overall mix is sure to put on an entertaining display of professional swimming.
According to experts, the US team is one of the most talented squads they have ever come across. The man leading them is none other than legendary coach Jim Wood. Only someone of Jim’s talent can produce the best results with 37 swimmers to guide and control.
Meanwhile, the men’s team in Dubai will have the services of Eddie Reese as their coach.
Never before has a USA swimming team toured the Middle East or Dubai which is why every member is geared up for the event. Every member is thrilling in his own right as other teams will have a real tough time in keeping up with the Americans. They were the
favourites to win the competition when a random public internet poll was calculated.
Jessica Hardy and Mary DeScenza Mohler, the Short Course Women World Champions will be taking part in the event as well. The women’s squad will be coached by Cal Berkely’s own Teri McKeever. This meet will be the first time the U.S will be dispatching its
complete roster to the SCWC after 6 years, when the championship was hosted in Indiana.

This will be great opportunity for all competing teams as it will probably be the only internationally based event before the 2012 Olympics. All countries participating will not only get a chance to show their potential but also be in a position to
judge just how much improvement and practice every team needs before the Olympic torch is brought to London.

Most of the swimmers selected for the SCWC 2010 by the U.S were based on their recent efforts in the ConocoPhillips National Championships 2010 and their performances in the Omaha Pan Pacific Championships. Both of these competitions were held
in the State of California in August 2010.
