Americans, Are you able to stop Russia?

I don´t really know, I think your country is very weak right now, and here in Europe the people (politicians) are so coward.

I'm very worried about this.

I'm surprised how some people underestimate Russian military including the nuclear weapons. If all the nuclear power that Russia has would be blown on it's on territory, that would be more than enough for the whole world to drop dead sooner or later. USA could have 10 times as much nuclear weapons, it would not make no difference at all if the war is to take place. No winners no losers. No one would not even need a funeral.

No, we can't stop their current activities, because we don't have a great deal of leverage at the moment.  Russia supplies Europe with almost all of its natural gas.  If Europe tries to sanction Russia too drastically, Russia can put the screws to Europe without even invading anyone.  Secondly, it is obvious that we can't stop them at the moment, because we haven't.  

Those talking about how we have a bigger nuclear arsenal are insane.  Do any of you actually believe that anyone would 'win' an all out nuclear exchange with Russia?  The world would be destroyed and largely uninhabitable for 100 years or more.  Oh yes, maybe the USA could wipe out more Russian cities than they can wipe out in the USA, but how exactly are millions upon millions of incinerated and/or sick and dying people on both sides a 'victory'?

The truth of the matter is that we cannot stop them from doing what they have done at the moment unless we threaten all out war and that simply is not going to happen and they know it.

I wouldn't worry. We could destroy Russia. We are so much more advanced with military technology, better trained and equipted soldiers, and a much larger Nuclear arsenal, if it came to that. If there was a threat to America itself or some of our closer allies in Europe, we would lay the smack down.

Absolutely.

Russia is truthfully very weak right now.  They are only acting big because the US is outstretched all over the world and powerless to stop them now.

Sure they over ran Georgia... but Georgia is a very small country ran by a very stupid man.

Did you happen to see the Russian soldiers riding ten atop a tank?  Did you check out their dirty, torn uniforms?  Their military was composed of rag tag militia like hesians.  Professional armies don't do that.  Where were their troop transporters?  Their military resembles a 1980's infantry- if need be the US and Europe would mop the floor with them.

Of course Russia is a 'threat' that should be addressed, however, lets not think that Russia is equal to the US or UK.  They are "old-school", which may work in Ossettia but is not good enough for western Europe of America.

In an open war..YES.  It would be interesting though.  USA and Russia have been circling each other for years waiting to fight.  It's going to happen one of these days.  Russia is smart though. They have been biding their time.  Iraq and Afganistan have weakend the USA, and now the USA is invovled in a 2 front war.  Not a very good idea.  But I do feel in an open all out war the USA could beat them. Where the battle fields would be I have no clue though.

We got beaten in Somalia by an army of malnourished, illiterate, toothless, rat ba$tards, with surplus WW2 weaponry mounted on rusty Toyota pick-up trucks with bald tires.

We are still in Iraq where we should have been in and out , victorious in 6 months.

How do you think America can stop a real country like Russia ?
