to American people, who deserved to win?

I am from the UK and though Calzaghe deserved his win..he was attacking all the way whilst Hopkins was boring and defensive.

In his interview, Hopkins said " Everyone apart from the Brits knows i deserved to win here"

  1. I'm from America and Calzaghe won that fight by aggresine.

Hopkins was one of my favorite fighters and i hate to admit it but Calzaghe outboxed him.

I taught when hopkins florred calzaghe it was a hopkins night but like a true champion calzaghe didn't give up and keep coming putting pressure on the tired hopkins.

Hopkins had to dive saying low blows which annoys me to see my boxing hero try win a fight like that.

Also i love roy jones but i think if they fight calzaghe could take this and maybe conforbelly.

Joe is a brilliant fighter and deserved to win hope to see more of him in the near future.

  2. Calzaghe won every round except the first. He was the aggressor, and landed at about a two to one rate the whole fight. Hopkins' shameless antics should get him suspended. Calzaghe was really starting to dominate a tired Hopkins when he started pulling that 'low blow' c**p. Then after resting, Hopkins had his best moments since the first round. It was pathetic!

  3. i thought it was a draw. his low blow shenanigans probably cost him the fight.

  4. the match was boring, they were clinching too much and not a lot of power shots....I'm glad it was free or a lot more people were have been disappointed...but as far as the result, calzaghe deserved the win by a large margin, Hopkins tried all of his dirty tactics(fake low blow, clinching, leading with his head) and no of them worked...i wonder who calzaghe is gonna fight next.....

  5. It was a difficult fight to score but I think Calzaghe won the fight. Hopkins was constantly running throughout the fight. One more thing what was up with the bad acting from hopkins. He barely got caught in the midsection but went down like he was stabbed down there. Anyhow, Calzaghe won that fight. The compubox doesn't lie. Calzaghe was landing punches, not to mention making the fight.

  6. I watched the fight for a second time, for the first time I watched it I thought Calzaghe won but not by much. I watched it again this morning and it was so obvious that all Calzaghe did was slap and score points. Hopkins threw the more aggressive punches. Calzaghe did no damage nor did he hurt Hopkins as much as Hopkins hurt him. Calzaghe either does not have any type of power or he just was not the throwing hard. If u honestly watch the fight again watch how Joe throws his punches, it's kind of pathetic. Hopkins won the fight 114-113, only because of the knockdown. Calzaghe won the fight on the amount of slaps he landed and not punches. Very poor performances and that's just it. Hopkins needs to retire, 4 years ago Hopkins would have very easily dominated that fight.

  7. Well, I'm from the U.S. and I thought Calzaghe won by a score of 115-112.  When you outland someone by over 100 punches, its really hard for me to see the other guy winning.  Hopkins landed the harder shots, but he was just looking for that one counter straight right hand.  Calzaghe simply outworked him and he deserved to win.  Hopkins said that because he's a fighter, so he's obviously going to think that everything he did was excellent (including the knockdown) and everything Calzaghe did was nothing in his mind.  It was a competitive fight, but I think that any non-biased person who watched it would agree that Calzaghe was the rightful winner tonight.  And I'm a huge Hopkins fan and I wanted him to win, but even I have to admit that he lost that fight fair and square.

  8. Calzaghe deserved to win, he through alot more punches, landed more, granted that hopkins landed the harder shots that knocked down calzaghe and stunned hima couple of times, but hopkins didnt land enough or even throw enought shots that would've given him a win.  Calzaghe won he made the fight, hopkins threw one punch and put his head down and held, but they are both great fighters and i would like to see calzaghe fight kelly pavlik and not roy jones, that owuld be a great fight.

  9. i live in america and i think calzaghe definetly deserved to win.

also hopkins was a cheat he always led with his head and took about 5 minutes after he claimed he got hit with a lowblow, which everyone could see that it hit his belt

  10. Calzaghe deserved that win.  I think Hopkins was in denial.  You heard Jim Lampley say that Hopkins complained about his losses to (I believe it was...) Taylor.  He is a sore loser.  Calzaghe won the fight.  End of story.

  11. I'm from South America and I thought Calzaghe clearly won. I only gave Hopkins the first two rounds after that I thought Calzaghe won 10 straight and I was really trying to find a few mercy rounds to give to Hopkins but simply couldn't. 117-110 Calzaghe.

  12. To be honest, neither one of them impressed me. Calzaghe threw weak slaps the whole night that didn't do any damage whatsoever. Hopkins' had a weak work rate. Calzaghe may have won, but the manner in which he did it did the exact opposite of what he hoped the fight would do; he thought it would prove he is a legend, but instead it showed him as barely able to get past a 43 year old who is past his prime, and in the words of Max Kellerman, "Tries his hardest to not convincingly lose."

Hopkins landed the cleaner, harder punches and had Calzaghe hurt a few times during the fight. Calzaghe may have been the aggressor, but you couldn't really tell by the shape Hopkins was in at the end of the fight.

I scored the fight for Hopkins but it only was by a point. The KD in the first round made the difference on my card... but really, it could've gone either way because they both fought like c**p. I think the judges scored for Calzaghe because he was moving forward the whole time, and we Americans tend to like aggression more than skill.
