Americans--Are you mad to see foreigners taking your job?

Question

I have been studying in the US for 6 years. Recently, I am applying to work at my home country. Most jobs in Thailand (95%) address clearly --you must be Thai nationals to apply.

I have American friends who would love to buy a house in Thailand, but they cannot because they are not Thais.

I am thinking American laws and rules are very open for immigrants. I used to think that many Americans hate foreigner and over react about illegal hispanics. Well, I guess it is hard to see someone takes your jobs.

I work as a manger for a non profit.  No foreigner is taking my job.

I like to see legal immigrants get opportunities in the US.  They deserve it.  It frosts me, however, to see illegal aliens working here as they have no business being here.  Their presence hurts the poorest of Americans and immigrants within America.

As to losing my job? I'm currently the owner, so that isn't possible.  My last couple of jobs required security clearances, so I guess there wasn't any worry there either.

There's no one in the world that could take my job.  I can't be fired and no one (especially a immigrant) could even work in the business.  The boss refuses to hire them except for menial labor like cleaning our toilets so there's no job loss there.  Mad you ask?  h**l no, I laugh at the powerless immigrants.

16 people plus i have answered ur question , non of them have lost their job to an undocumented , if u had 100 answers the number of people who have lost a job to an undocumented still would be zero , therefor of course i not angry i am disappointed however about all the misinformation going on and the way some do not put some logic into their own statements and the apathy of the same to think about the subject for real ...

by the way if we reduced the number of people in the USA we would also reduce the number of costumers for many , therefor as simple as that we would also reduce the number of jobs available for the Americans , this is pure logic , plus the percentage of undocumented students in the USA  is 2 percent , if we reduced that number we would also reduce that percentage of skilled teachers needed , meaning less jobs for Americans .... apply this logic to everything and the result is every time less jobs  .

i would like to add than the price of gas does make the prices of everything go up and than the current prices are NOT because of the undocumented but because of the wasteful Iraq war .

well almost everyone in america is an immigrant or came from immigrants (unless they are native americans).

i would understand how they would be afraid of competition but i would say that most americans are okay with immigrants and even enjoy the cultural diversity.

No, America is land of immigrants, it depends on foreigners who come here in hopes on finding jobs that their home country doesnt offer. To not want them here is just being racist. besides all white people who are saying they dont want foreigners, came from ENGLAND to find a better life in another Country.

I have not had it happen to me but I do have concerns regarding having our employment being bid out to the lowest earner.

The cost to taxpayers is just too much for these visa holders/illegals(V/I).

1.  We pay for the V/I dependents to go to our schools at over $10,000 per kid per year.  Virtually none earn enough to pay their share of this cost.

2.  We pay when they are permitted to get welfare, food stamps, housing, WIC checks and other social services.

3.  We pay when they go to our hospitals and get free health care.

4.  We pay when they send the majority of their income back to their country - an American would spend/save it here thus helping OUR economy.

5.  We pay through rising costs of limited supply commodity items.  Does anyone really think that the price of gasoline/electricity/natural gas/water/etc wouldn't drop if the estimated 15-25 MILLION illegals and 2 or so million visa holders went home.

If the employers were held accountable for these costs I strongly feel most would suddenly find the Americans to do the job.

The benefits for these people being here are mostly realized by the very wealthy so I can't understand why the democrats support illegals at every turn.  They are supposed to be the party of the working stiff!

We need the reality check on the economy, job market, existing skill labor or non skill labor, how much employers willing to pay and how much they are able to pay, and people's intention to work locally before getting mad at foreigners working here.

Foreigners will get hired just like you and me, it is not because they are cheap, it is because the employers can manipulate them and ask them to obey or they will be fired just a like slaves and deport them to go home.  And do you know that before hiring a legal foreign labor, a company has to pay lots of money to our government before they can do that to sponsor that foreign labor?

Tell me when was the last time you see people working at Macdonald smile at you like the commercial they used to advertise? None, Nada, Zero, why? Why? Why?

I have so many friends work as executive managers in different companies, are they mad at foreigners, no, why not, coz they have a job and education and skill to find the job they want and they work their **** off and they speak proper English with good business sense and manner. And the most important thing is that they are not lazy.

Why are there so many things made in China or other foreign countries? Because it is cheaper and no whining lazy employees. Are you willing to stay on the assembly line  everyday and only get paid with minimum wage? I don't think there are many people would like to do that these days

Everyone just want high pay easy job or low pay less labor job and troubles without paying efforts to make the job done right.

No free meal in the world and we certainly get paid for how much the job is worth in the market and how hard you work for it.

It is the cost and effect things when talking about job and labor and money. Money is the king in all the business. That is why there are so many factories moving out of the countries and leave all the whinners here to look for some other jobs.

I don't work for a company that hires illegals so I can't say that I have lost a job to one.

I do work with legal immigrants of all ethnic backgrounds and they are not normally viewed as having taken someone's job.

The fuss about job loss is directed at illegals.

No, I am not mad because actually SOME Americans don't have the credentials that some foreigners have. If they are educated let them have the jobs, those who are educated know English, they are legal, they are working hard, so I don't see any problem. But, wait, maybe the jobs that you are talking are those that don't require an education and the poor illegal immigrants are taking. If an American is losing that kind of  job to an illegal immigrant, is not the fault of that immigrant, is the fault of the American who is not educated and is complaining all day posting hate against hard working people.

but if foreigners want to come to the US they should really try to speak english, i have clients at work that been here for 2 to 5 years and still don't know english.

It seems hypocritical that Americans are expected to allow other countries to study here,yet we are not allowed to buy property in Tailand? But we are called the racist ones. As far as jobs, its not that Americans are angry about immigrants working.We are angry because illegal immigrants are able to come here,have babies paid for by our tax dollars and can afford to work dirt cheap because we are footing the bills.It drives wages down for middle class and poor citizens that dont qualify for government assistance,doesnt seem fair does it?
