  2. I do.  I wouldn't feel right not doing it.

  3. Yes I sure do!!!!!  And Im proud to be an AMERICAN!!!!

  4. Yep. Hat off, hand over heart.

  5. No I don't.

  6. THE UNITED STATES CODE

    TITLE 36

    CHAPTER 10

Yup:  you are supposed to AND I do.

BTW, I'm a liberal and a former solder. So please lighten up on how we each respect our country - it is not just you "conservatives" who love it and who have honorably served it.

  7. Yup. Here is what most school kids are taught in the USA...

    The Salute

To salute, all persons come to attention. Those in uniform give the appropriate formal salute. Citizens not in uniform salute by placing their right hand over the heart and men with head cover should remove it and hold it to left shoulder, hand over the heart. Members of organizations in formation salute upon command of the person in charge.

The Pledge of Allegiance and National Anthem

The pledge of allegiance should be rendered by standing at attention, facing the flag, and saluting.

When the national anthem is played or sung, citizens should stand at attention and salute at the first note and hold the salute through the last note. The salute is directed to the flag, if displayed, otherwise to the music.

  8. Just as a history lesson, nothing else.

The "Under God" part of the pledge was added in the 1950's due to fear of the Soviet Union and their being labeled as a godless society.

  9. I do, sure hope I'm note getting married again to some one I don't even know or seen !!!!!!!!!!!

  10. I used to.  I am still patriotic and feel that this country is the best one in the world but I do not like the direction the current administration is taking this country.  So that may be a factor in why I don't.  Bush and his cronies have dented my love for this country.

  11. Yes.  Or my baseball cap over my heart if I have one on.

  12. Both. It is a sign of respect, you don't have to do it though.

  13. Yes, I do, for both. Also when the flag passes by in a parade. And I always stand, too. There is one exception, however....every day at noon, my favorite radio station always plays the national anthem. It's not always convenient, or safe to stand, particularly f you are driving at the time.

  14. Hand over heart for pledge, stand at attention for anthem.

  15. i dont say the pledge, or sing the anthem.  i stand out of respect, but its my right to not have to say them.  patriotism should be felt, but that doesnt mean you have to recite old poems.

  16. Yes, always and I stand on my d**n feet as well.

  17. Nobody says the pledge anymore since they banned it in schools and yes, we do for the national anthem.

  18. Yes

  19. yes we do

  20. Yes, and I remove my hat as well.  Out of respect for the country (with all of our problems) that I love.

  21. At a military (veteran) function we salute a lot of the time but the rest of the time RIGHT hand over heart. I gave someone a thumbs down for saying left hand- sorry, I am a pain

For the person before me that mentioned it being banned in schools, I know in some places it has been BUT in the school I work at, we say it over the intercom EVERY single day and 99% of the kids absolutely support doing so.

  22. Yes, unless I was in uniform then I would salute.

  23. Yes I sure do, its only proper to do so!!!!Right hand over heart.

  24. God I don't even remember the last time I heard the Pledge!!  But yes way back when I did place my hand over my heart.  For the National Anthem, no I do not.  Stand, hat off, facing the flag, but no hand over my heart.

  25. I neither stand for the pledge nor recite it.  I do stand for the National Anthem but don't remove my hat.

  26. During the pledge.  Sorry so many people aren't actually answering your question, just simply saying "yes" or "no".

  27. i do; and take off those d**n hats!

  28. Yes I do all of the time

  29. Yes I always do, and stand up too.

  30. I do... I don't know if your supposed to anymore...  it probably offended some liberal panty-waist for some s***w-ball reason and is now considered non-PC...

  31. Yes and have since I was very small. At first I was just doing what my father and grandfather would do and it became a habit. Once I learned why I should do this it became an honor to do so.
