While I don't support the war in Iraq, I do think about the soldiers there every now and then. They are just like you or me. Usually young kids sent out in the middle of the desert. I can't imagine living in Iraq or Afghanistan in some crappy little cement building (if that).

This website was forwarded to me and so now I forward it to you all. It gives you the addresses of normal people who are overseas. You can write letters to them or send them gifts (which for them is like a bottle of shampoo and a magazine).

On the website someone had written that the people over there on the receiving end of these letters get so excited to read them. It really makes their day and reminds them of home even though it is from a total stranger.

I'm not trying to solicit a debate on the war or whatever. I don't care. If you don't want to do this then don't.

But if you want to write a letter go to http://www.anysoldier.com

Have a lovely day.

  1. That was incredibly kind of you to pass this along. I know very well what it can mean to get a piece of friendly mail when you are thousands of miles away from home. Thank you and I will also do so.
