  1. There's many ways, including doppler radar, which is used by the weather service. Individuals may use thermometers just for temperature readings, not 'learning the weather', or barometers, which measure atmospheric pressure and can help determine surface troughs, high pressure systems, and frontal boundaries. There are different types of barometers.

I usually check the weather channel on cable tv or check online where I can get a satellite view, live, to see storm fronts and track them.

  2. We use thermometers to tell what temperature it is, but to know whether it's going to rain or be sunny or snow, etc., we can watch the weather channel on TV or look it up online, which is what I usually do. www.weather.com is an easy, reliable online source of weather.

  3. I usually look into a girl's eyes to tell whether. Oh, you said "Weather".

Thermometers are one tool. Barometers are another. Also looking at the sky (clouds, mostly) to the west. Or you can just turn on the radio to get a forecast.
