Americans view of Glasgow Rangers and Celtic?

Can i ask, despite the obvious irish-american culture today in the U.S.A and with celtic being an Irish club based in Scotland, why do neutral soccer fans of america even support celtic the smallest bit.

I was looking at a post previous to this one (What are Americans view of Rangers and Celtic) and the supporting of either of these teams in the states was quite well balanced. But out of curiousity, why would americans back celtic fc, who's own fans were caught live on television mocking the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and were also caught..on audio..making noise and disrupting a minutes silence for the victims of 9/11.

Proof will happily be provided if asked.

American soccer fans. I am in no way influencing which Scottish football/soccer team to support. Just asking a simple question? Do you want to be fellow fans with these type of people?

  1. I really don't care that much for European soccer teams.

  2. some people donot bother.

    hello!!!

personaly i donot like celtic fans, not being offensive.

    just their behaviour.

    i'm not american though.

    bye :)

  3. In all honesty, it sounds pathetic, but people here like their uniforms. Combined with the fact that Celtic has played some games here domestically, fans like them because they "know who they are." Kind of like how fans here pretend to like Chelsea, ManU, etc because those are the teams they see on ESPN. It has everything to do with fashion and popularity and nothing to do with the fans. People here could care less. Knowing those things though, I definitely would not want to be associated with them.

  4. I think they have a distant connection with Celtic because the American Sports have a team with the name Celtic in them.

Not very concrete, i know, but still - it's distant
